The yellow-billed stork is adaptative and intelligent. It created a technique to catch more food. Using one foot, it stirs up the water or mud to flush out prey. A quick muscular reflex in the neck allows almost all their food to be caught in the water.

These storks do not socialize much with one another and tend to isolate themselves in swamps, muddy rivers or large areas of shallow, marshy waters. They breed nearly year round. The male chooses the location of the nest and works with the female to build it in 7-10 days. Two to three eggs are laid on alternate days and incubated for 30 days.
