Isaiah 11:
6 The wolf also
shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little
child shall lead them.
7 And the cow
and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together:and the
lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking
child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put
his hand on the cockatrice' den.
9 They shall
not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full
of the knowledgeof the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
With tears in my eyes I watched
in horror as a man beat a baby elephant with a stick to make it do as he
wanted it to do. The baby was chained to a tree with a heavy shackle
around it's leg. I wondered to myself, how could anyone watch this
and not be appalled? Worse yet, how could anyone do this and not
feel anything? How could a human being inflict this kind of pain
on any living thing and go home and sleep peacefully at night? This
was a show that I happen to stop at when watching T.V. one night about
a week ago (7-12-99). It was then that I decided to include
a page on my web site to help stop the abuse of animals. This is
a world wide problem. In the last few days I have spent many hours
researching the abuse of animals, I feel that this abuse needs to be
stopped.
The following pages contain
links to sites that will give you information about how you can help.
Some will take you to sites with graphic stories and or videos detailing
the abuse that takes place. The only way to get the full impact is
to read and watch what has happened. Please, do not close your eyes to
this problem.
IMAGINE THIS:
Your child wants a pet......You
go to the pet store and buy a puppy. You take the puppy home, feed
him, water him, teach him tricks...he is so cute!! He sleeps beside you
in your bed, you walk him, you play with him...you buy him new toys.
One day you turn around and
your cute puppy has become a big, maybe not so cute dog, pretty soon he
is chained up in the back yard and forgotten. Dogs left alone soon
become mean and unmanagable. Pet owners end up putting the animal
to sleep or taking them to an animal shelter where they will most likely
be put to sleep. Does this sound unreal? Well, its not.
The cruel treatment of animals
is not limited to big animals. It extends from the smallest of birds to
the largest of whales. We have seen this in examples of birds being
cramped in cages and boxes to be shipped to pet stores. Many die before
reaching their destination.
In recent years we have seen
the affects on a whale that was mistreated when kept in a pen that was
to small. The unfair treatment of animals extends from the puppy
mills we have seen on television to the trainers of circus animals.
Animals feel physical and mental pain just as we do. To learn more about
the cruelty of animals and
how to prevent it, click on some of the links below.
