Concrete Angels

She walks to
school with
the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what
she's holdin'
back
Wearin' the same
dress she
wore yesterday
She hides the
bruises with
linen and lace
The teacher
wonders but she
doesn't ask
It's hard to see
the pain
behind the mask
Bearing the
burden of a secret
storm
Sometimes she
wishes she
was never born
Through the
wind and the rain
She stands hard
as a stone
In a world that
she can't
rise above
But her dreams
give her wings
And she flies to
a place
where she's loved
Concrete
Angel
Somebody cries
in the middle
of the night
The neighbors
hear, but they
turn out the lights
A fragile soul
caught in
the hands of fate
When morning
comes it'll
be too late
Through the
wind and the rain
She stands hard
as a stone
In a world that
she can't
rise above
But her dreams
give her wings
And she flies to
a place
where she's loved
Concrete
Angel
A statue
stands in a shaded
place
An angel girl
with an upturned
face
A name is written
on a polished
rock
A broken heart
that the world
forgot
Through the
wind and the rain
She stands hard
as a stone
In a world that
she can't
rise above
But her dreams
give her wings
And she flies to
a place
where she's loved
Concrete
Angel

If you
know of any songs that
I do not have listed
below, please send me an e-mail with the
title of
the song and who
sings it and I will add the song if I feel
it is
appropriate. I will NOT
add songs with explicit
lyrics, cussing or songs that
deal with children
killing their abusers.
Some of
the songs listed below
may contain lyrics
that actually do describe the abuse that children suffer, though I have
tried to be very careful about just what
extent
they describe things.
I feel the songs are important in getting the message out, about child
abuse. I also feel it is possible to get
the message
out without cussing
and without explicit lyrics.
I would
also like to add that
while I have lyrics
here that were written and sung by what some people would consider
"hard
core" musicians, I don't so much think that who writes and sings is
what
is important. I believe that the message they send in a certain song is
what matters.
