Cashmere Obama Randall
November 4, 2008 - June 8, 2009
Find A Grave Memorial

Wouldn't it be wonderful if every time we see someone say "She was a good mother, she loved her child", or
"He loved his child, he was a great dad", about someone who has KILLED their child, that would mean one
less child would have die at the hands of those who "love" them?

On June 8, 2009, just such a thing happened. A woman who has a family claiming she "loved" her son and
would never hurt him, killed him by punching him repeatedly in the head, back and side, simply because he
was crying and she wanted him to stop. Na-aisha Riley admitted to police that she punched her seven month
old son over and over until he stopped crying. Na-aisha left him on the bed when he stopped crying and
simply walked away from him. Na-aisha also admitted to having shaken her son, Cashmere Obama Randall
at least four times. The medical examiner would reveal that Cashmere had died of whiplash, shaking and
blunt trauma to his head. Oddly, Na-aisha worked as a security guard, she should have protected her own
son, from herself!

Of course Na-aisha's mother defended her saying that Cashmere had been named Cashmere Obama since
he was born on the day President Obama was elected. She said:

"My grandson was beautiful. He was sent from heaven. My daughter is kind and
compassionate. She'd never do such a thing"
Toinette Knight-Riley

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT SHE CONFESSED TO THE MURDER OF THIS CHILD!!!  PLEADING  NOT
GUILTY LATER DOES NOT TAKE AWAY WHAT SHE DID!!!

Unique Jones, the boyfriend of Na-aisha, was shocked to hear that she had tried to blame him at first for the
death of her son. A person can only imagine the relief he felt when she finally confessed. An Aunt of Na-aisha's
also talked to the news and said that she would never do this and that Unique had been with the baby for only
two hours and didn't know how to care for him and was responsible for his death.

Unique said:

"I saw her pop him in the head to keep him from crying. I told her you think that's going
to stop him from crying? No, it's only going to make it worse"

Na-aisha had dropped Cashmere off at the home of Unique's family and was there when he got home. He said
she acted cold towards him, not talking or even kissing him hello, seeming to be in a rush to leave. Unique went
upstairs and found Cashmere, he was limp and his lips and tongue were blue. Unique's father said that he tried
to give CPR to Cashmere:

"I tried to give him CPR, but he wouldn't breathe. I could find the heartbeat, but no
other vital signs. It's going to be with me for the rest of my life. It's shocking,
You can never tell what's in other people's minds"

At 5:30 pm, 911 was called and paramedics rushed Cashmere to the Montefiore Medical Center. Though there
was no evidence of bruising at that time, Cashmere was pronounced dead at the hospital. Na-aisha's other
child, two year old daughter Naisha was taken into custody by CPS.

Na-aisha was charged with murder, manslaughter and assault as well as second degree murder and assault, for
what she did to Cashmere. She was held without bail after a judge was informed that she had confessed to what
she had done, on video tape:

"I Shook the baby violently four times. I put the baby down. Then when the baby kept
fussing, I picked him back up and punched him three times in the head, three times in the
back and once on his side. While I was punching him, I was him holding by his jaw with my
fingers under his nostrils. He had tears coming down and he just kept looking at me. After
I punched him, I put him down and he made three little gasps. He stopped crying and I
left. I left him on the bed alone"
Na-aisha Riley - Taped Confession

After that HORRIBLE taped confession, Na-aisha had the nerve to plead not guilty to the charges against her. A
conviction would mean she would face 25 years to life in prison. Na-aisha was 21 years old at the time.

UPDATE: August 2013
