Find A Grave Memorial

Alai'Ja Freedom Corbin arrive at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, in critical condition. Alai'Ja
was rushed to the hospital from Garden City after a call came in to Paramedics that a child was unconscious
and needing medical help. Emergency surgery was performed on Alai'Ja after it was determined that her injuries
were consistent with head trauma:

"Upon doing an examination, they noticed that the injuries were not consistent with
something that would be an accident"
Sgt. Blair Brannan - Garden City Police

The manager of the home that Jordon Everhart, his girlfriend and Alai'Ja lived in said that they had only moved
in a few months ago and that no one saw much of them. Benny Nava said that the little girl has been seen playing
in the yard with the dogs that they had. Benny and other neighbors said they had never seen or heard any violence at all and that a background check on the couple prior to their moving into the home found nothing wrong"

"There was no sign that things were going on. Because she was always gone working. Leave
early and come late. The only one that was in there with the girl was Everhart"
Benny Nava

Garden City police were investigating and talked about this being a reminder for everyone about abuse:

"We're talking about innocent children here that now they're going to be affected the
rest of their lives. I mean, if you're having problems, please call somebody or walk way.
This is very tragic for this little girl"

Alai'Ja's mother was not home when the abuse took place, though she was at the hospital with her. Jordon Everhart, who was 21 years old at the time, was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with felony injury to a child and he was held on $500,000. bond with an arraignment date set for October 11, 2011.

At his arraignment, Gordon tried to say that Alai"Ja had been knocked down by the dogs that lived there. However, Prosecutors told what the doctors had found"

"There were non-accidental brusing on the victims body, a contusion on the abdomen, a large
bruise on the vistims hip and a CT scan showed that there was new and old bleeding in the
brain, with a left brain shift consistant with abuse"

On October 14, 2011, Alai'Ja died as a result of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Jordon. The Coroner,
Erwin Sonnenberg, said that Alai'Ja died of traumatic head trauma at 5:30pm.

Alai'Ja's family was distraught over her death and had this to say"

"We do not know how or why she injured, only that the injuries occurred while she
was being cared for by the person we trusted. Shock and disbelief gave way to harsh
reality on Friday October 24 when we said good bye to our precious angel and God took
her home. Words cannot describe the horrific loss of a child, so young and innocent. We
wish to say thank you to everyone, including those of you we do not know for all of your
prayers that have helped and will continue to help carry use through the hardest thing
we will probably ever have to face in this lifetime. God bless"
