On March 22, 2104, reports
said the Spring sky was a little bit cloudy, but not to those who were
looking up at 3:56 p.m. and would have seen pink an purple balloons
that had been released to honor Kilah's memory. Messages and wishes
going to Kilah were written on some of the balloons
Kilah's family had asked people to come and celebrate her life:
"Funerals homes are for
old people:
Leslie
Davenport
Several hundred people came out to celebrate the life of this precious
little Angel including members of motorcycle clubs who had been on
memorial rides to help raise money for child abuse awareness. Kilah had
loved to dance and be happy and that's what Leslie and other family
members wanted her memorial to be about.
Sitting in lawn chairs with coolers, people sat on the hill while Hula
Hoops were passed out so people could swing and dance to the music of
Darrell Harwood singing "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)", Kilah's
favorite song. A pink and lavender dress was displayed, a dress that
Kilah was going to wear as a special guest at a prom for disable youth:
"She was going to be a
princess. We took her a crown"
