June
16, 2008
This is the last day that anyone other
than Casey
Anthony sees Caylee alive. George Anthony sees Caylee leave the house
with
Casey.
June 30, 2008:
This is the day that Casey's car was
towed and her
parents were called about it. Casey was supposedly on vacation and they
later found out she was staying with her boyfriend.
July 16, 2008:
Casey is arrested and tells police she
left Caylee
with the nanny, Zenaida Gonzales and when she returned to get Caylee
they
were both gone. When the police checked her story, they found out the
apartment
had been empty for several months. Casey was charged with neglect at
that
time.
July 22, 2008:
During a bond hearing for Casey,
detectives reveal
that cadaver dogs had hit on human decomposition in the trunk of the
car
and that there was also some hair that looked like Caylee's present in
the trunk. Casey's bond was set for $500,000.
July 22, 2008:
Casey is now considered a person of
interest in
the case of her missing child. The police started treating the case as
a possible homicide.
July 24, 2008:
Cindy Anthony tells reporters that
Caylee was spotted
in Georgia. This claim could not be verified by police.

Caylee's
third birthday. Birthday came and went with no sign of the missing
child.

and is sent
back to jail.

is dead.
September 5, 2008:
Casey gets out of jail, again.
September 29 2008:
Casey is arrested once again on charges
that include:
neglect of a child, lying to police and petty theft. None of the
charges
in this arrest were related to Caylee's disappearance.

Casey is officially names as a suspect
in Caylee's
disappearance.
October 14, 2008:
Casey is charged with first degree
murder, aggravated
child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and providing false information to
police.
December 5, 2008:
Video taped conversations between Casey
and her
family members are shown on television. Casey claims to be protecting
the
family and that is her reason for not cooperating fully with the police.
December 11, 2008:
A city employee finds a trash bag in a
wooded area
less then half a mile from the Anthony's house. The bag contains a
small,
human skull. On three different days he had called the police to report
a white bag in that same spot. Nothing ever came out of those calls.
December 16, 2008:
Casey's defense team is upset because
the are not
given access to the crime scene. At this time, the remains had not been
identified.
December 19, 2008:
Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia
confirms in
a statement that the remains are in fact Caylee Marie Anthony.
January 8, 2009:
Casey Anthony is ordered by the judge to
attend
all court proceedings from this day on. Casey has not been attending
any
of them, instead refusing to go and staying in her cell. The judge also
orders that the pictures of Caylee's remains are NOT to be seen by the
public.
January 9, 2009:
It is broadcast on television that the
evidence
proves that Casey killed Caylee and that it was not an accident. What
the
evidence is, is not released other than to say that hair at the scene
matched
the hair found in Casey's car and belonged to Caylee. It is said that
Caylee
was killed on the 16th of June and that her body was placed in the
woods
on the 18th of June. It is also said that no charges will be filed
against
George, Cindy or Lee Anthony.
January 12, 2009:
Nancy Grace shows video of Dominic
Casey, a private
eye hired by the Anthony family, digging through trash bags and pushing
a steal rod into the ground just feet away from Caylee's remains. He
told
two different stories of why he was there.
January 13, 2000:
The city worker who found Caylee's
remains goes
on television to say that he didn't know the Anthony family, had never
met them and that he had nothing to do with the disappearance and
murder
of Caylee. Stating:
"No good deed goes unpunished"
January 22, 2009:
Police receive a call stating that
George Anthony
is missing. George has been text messaging people saying that he wants
to go be with Caylee, that he wants to die. George is found by the
police
in a hotel and taken to Halifax Hospital to be treated.
February 4 2009:
A date is set, for February 10th, for a
public memorial
for Caylee. It will be held at a Baptist church with seating for 5,000.
People will not be allowed to bring in purses, backpacks or bags of any
kind. Cell phones and cameras will not be permitted and a metal
detector
will be in place. The Anthony family has the right to refuse admittance
of any
one they do not want to attend.
February 10, 2009:
A public memorial was held for Caylee.
Almost 1,100
people attend the memorial at the First Baptist Church of Orlando. It
is
reported that Casey did not watch the memorial on the prison television
set. She is meeting with her lawyers to talk about her defense. Earlier
in the week, Casey had said in a written statement, read by her lawyer,
that she didn't want Caylee to have a public memorial. She said in the
same statement that she knew her parents had had Caylee cremated and
that
she wanted to have her buried in a casket, with a headstone so that she
could visit her grave some day.
"I still don't want the public
with cameras
and everyone around for Caylee's funeral service.
I can't stop my parents from doing
what they
want. I truly hope it will help them."
Casey Anthony
February 18, 2009:
Police release hundreds of pictures and
other evidence
in the case that came from the Anthony home. One piece of evidence that
was said to have a huge impact on the case is a diary entry that seems
to be from five days AFTER Caylee was supposedly kidnapped. The
entry was dated June 21:
I have no regrets, just a bit
worried. I just
want for everything to work out okay.
I completely trust my own
judgement & know
that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the
means.
I just want to know what the
future will hold
for me. I guess I will soon see -- This is the happiest t
hat I have been in a very long
time.
I hope that my happiness will
continue to grow
-- I've made new friends that I really like.
I've surrounded myself with good
people --
I am finally happy. Let's just hope that it
doesn't change.
Casey's lawyer says that the entry
was made in 2003,
before Caylee was even born.
March 2, 2009:
A court date was set for Casey's trial,
it is set
for October 12, 2009. In court, Circuit Judge Stan Strickland rules
that
a video tape of Casey reacting to the news that the remains of a child
had been found hear her home, would be supressed for now. The judge
ruled
that her defense attorneys can view the tape first. He also ruled that
pictures of Casey would not be supressed. The pictures are of Casey
partying
before and after Caylee disappeared.
April 13, 2009:
Prosecutors announce they will seek the
death penatly
for Casey. Jose Biaz, her attorney, says that they are only trying to
force
her to plead out on the case and that it won't work.
June 19, 2009:
George and Cindy Anthony had fought to
keep the
autopsy report from becoming public. George Anthony made an emotional
plea
to the judge trying to stop the report from being made public. The
judge
unwilling had to allow the results to be made public, though he didn't
want to, the law didn't allow him to ban it. The results became public
and were announced all over the
television news.
I agree with George on this one. The
results SHOULD
not have been made public. At the very least, news shows should NOT
have
been talking so candidly about what was found. Caylee deserved more
respect
than that. In my opinion.
