Precious Doe' Investigators Honored Investigation
Led To Charges In Killing

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are honoring
15 detectives and a sergeant Tuesday for their roles in the "Precious Doe"
case.
The detectives of Homicide Squad No. 1020 each received
the Unit Citation Award. Their sergeant received a Certificate of Commendation
for leading the investigation.
The four-year investigation led to charges in the
killing of a 4-year-old girl who was found decapitated in 2001.
Police identified "Precious Doe" as Erica Michelle
Green.
Prosecutors charged her mother, Michelle Johnson,
and stepfather, Harrell Johnson, in her killing.
Harrell Johnson was charged with first-degree murder,
child abuse resulting in death and endangering the welfare of a child.
His trial is set for next February.
Prosecutors charged Michelle Johnson with second-degree
murder and endangering the welfare of a child. Her trial is set for October.
