Find A Grave Memorial
On January 22, 2013,
two beautiful, little Angels were brought into this
world, Harper and Annabelle Fowler, twin sisters. No
one could have imagined the tragedy that would take
place less than a year later.
On October 5, 2014, Christopher Storbakken called
911 and first responders found Harper unresponsive,
she was taken to Riley Hospital For Children where
she was pronounced dead that same day. Christopher,
the 27 year old father of the twin girls, was
arrested and charged with the murder of Harper. As
often happens, Christopher gave his version of what
happened to his daughter and Police knew it was not
the truth.
Christopher said that he had been playing video
games on his phone and the girls were sleeping. When
they woke up, Christopher says he went to get them
from their bed and he dropped Harper. Christopher
was watching the two girls in the home they shared
with their mother, Megan Fowler, on weekends while
their mother was working on a nursing degree, he
didn't live with the children.
Not surprisingly, Harper's injuries were
inconsistent with what would be a fall from a bed.
Harper sustained bruising on her hear, jaw, neck,
leg, arm, hand and on top of he head. An autopsy
showed that Harper had internal injuries consisting
of hemorrhages to her brain and retinas caused by
blunt force trauma and Prosecutors say that
Christopher was the one to cause those injuries.
Luckily, Harper's sister was not injured.
Christopher told Police that while he is an
alcoholic, he had not been drinking that day.
Christopher was charged with murder and battery and
neglect of a dependent, both felony charges and he
was held without bond.
A neighbor said:
"Twin
girls, just starting to chatter, just starting
to walk a little. That's what makes it
so
sad.
And I happened to look over there and I just
watched a little bit and I'll be
doggone
if
they didn't carry out the little baby on a
little bitty stretcher. Two guys
put
it into the ambulance and I thought, Lord, this
is so sad. Something happened
bad.
Every
baby that dies or is hurt, it's tragic, just
tragic"
David
Dean
Christopher
Storbakken plead not guilty to the charges. Deputy
Prosecutor Kristina Korobov said that what
Christopher had claimed happened to Harper, was not
consistent with what had been seen at autopsy:
"This
child had multiple forms of injuries to her
head and the rest of her body. Those
injuries
were
consistent
with the infliction of blunt force trauma.
This was not an accident. This was
not
accidental
in nature and it certainly didn't happen
from a short fall"
Prevent Child Abuse 4 Indiana admitted that
while taking care of children is a challenge,
there is help for parents who are feeling
overwhelmed:
"Parents
can call 211 Connect To Help or
1-800-children. If someone is close to their
faith
community
they can reach out to family or friends. It
doesn't have to be a formal
network.
It
can be an informal support system as well"

UPDATE:
January 28, 2015
I have been informed that the trial has been
postponed until April of 2015.
UPDATE: June 29, 2016- Thank
you Amy for this update.
In November of 2015, Christopher Storbakken was in
court. A jury deliberated for almost 12 hours over
two days and for whatever reason, they found him not
guilty of all of the charges against him. I am
shocked to say that least that I can about this. I
believe in my heart that with all of the injuries
found on this child, she was NOT
dropped from her crib.
