Hundreds of people turned out to say
goodbye to
Nixzmary Brown on the day of her memorial and funeral service. This
story
had been in the news almost every day and most of these people were
strangers,
people who never even knew her. Pouring their hearts out to this little
Angel in ways her mother and stepfather never did.
"It touched everyone,"
Caridad Ramos Nixzmary's great
aunt.
Nixzmary was finally laid to rest on
January 18,
2006. The people of New York, her family as well as strangers, came to
pay their respects to her and to tell her goodbye. There was an open
casket
wake at the First Avenue Ortiz Funeral Home. Out of respect for
Nixzmary,
I will not be putting any pictures of her in her casket, on my site.

Nixzmary's family broke down at her
grave site.
Reverend Robert O'Neil said that
Nixzmary's nightmare
was finally over:
"Nixzmary is now surrounded by
love, beyond
the touch of evil"

A float that paid tribute to abuse
victims showed
a picture of Nixzmary Brown. The float was placed so far back in the
lineup
that it was not one that was shown on television while it went up Fifth
Avenue. That is so sad, this is a real problem and it deserves as much
attention as any other float in the parade, even more...IN MY OWN
OPINION!
