Toddler Holdsworth
1956
In 1956 a child known today only
as Toddler Holdsworth, was beaten to death
by his mother. The mother
claimed that the child was "dirty in his habits" and she beat him for over
a year with straps and the buckles on the straps. His
body was covered with wounds
from the beatings he had been given. On his
head, neck, back, arms and
legs were wounds from the straps he had been
beaten with.
The judge in the case described
the beatings as "systematic torture" and said it
was one of the most shocking
cases of child abuse that he could rememeber.
The judge said that the death
of this child was a "merciful release".
