responded to a home in Yuma, Arizona on May 31, 2011. I can't imagine
what it must be like to be a
Police officer or
someone in an ambulance who gets the call that a
child is "unresponsive". So many times it turns out the
child is dead and so many times it turns out to be
abuse, this time would be no different.
Danielle Martinez was found not breathing and she had no pulse. Victor
Noriega, who was the 29 year old boy- friend of 22 year old Sonia
Sepulveda, was home baby-sitting when
the call was made. Danielle was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center
and there, she was pronounced dead.
An autopsy would reveal that danielle had significant internal injuries
and that older injuries suggested the child had been being abused. In
fact, Danielle's spine was completely
severed and it was called a "total separation of the lower spine".
Victor was arrested and charged with first degree murder as well
as four counts of aggravated assault and one count of child abuse.
Justice Of The Piece pro tem Yolanda Torok ordered Victor held with no
bond. Prosecutor Karolyn Kaczorowski was
asked if she had any comments for the court and she declined. Victor
listened as the charges against him
were read, he only spoke when he asked for a public defender and he
showed no emotion at all.
