Below are myths and strange stories to be told about Titanic.

Though it is claimed that lack of lifeboats was the cause of so many people dying as Titanic went down,
a lack of time was more than likely the real reason. There would not have been enough time to get all of
the lifeboats into the water and fill them in the short time it took the Titanic to sink.

Some believe that due to the mummy of Amen-ra being on the ship it this was the reason it sank. The
mummy of Amen -ra is said to have a curse of death and destruction attached to it. Actually, the
mummy of Amen-ra was on display at London's Brittish museum at the time of Titanic's maiden voyage.

There is a belief that the Titanic sank because of a 300 ft gash caused  by the iceburg it hit. In reality,
there were a series of six small holes in the starboard hull, causing an area about 12 square feet of
damage. It is believed that what caused the ship to sink was that the holes were located over the six
   critical, watertight holds.

The White Star Line never said that Titanic was "Unsinkable", they only said "Practically unsinkable". The
press left off the word practically and soon it was being referred to as "Unsinkable". Gotta love the press
   even back then.

There is a belief that inside of Titanic is a fortune in jewels and gold. In fact, the ships records who
there was no cold or silver shipments on the ship. Most of the jewels which were on the ship, left with
those who owned them. When it was realized that the ship was going down, the owners of the jewels
went to the Perser's office and retrieved whatever jewels they had stored there. In 1987 when the safe
was found and opened, it was empty.

The rumor about a man dressing as a woman to get into one of the lifeboats is a story made up by the
press to get revenge on a man by the name of Willaim T. Sloper. After being rescued, William was not
in the mood to talk to the press, who would be? He had to use force to remove some of the press from
his room at the Waldorf Astoria after he made it clear he didn't want to talk to them. The story was
made up and William T. Sloper spent the rest of his life defending himself.

From a tabloid in 1993 Like the stories below,
this is a strange and untrue story.

A strange story about the Titanics hull number was going around for a long time. Supposedly it was
390904 and was delibrately given to the Titanic so it would sink. When held in front of a mirror, with
some of the numbers twisted sideways, it would spell "No Pope", making the Titanic anti Catholic.
Strange, since the real number of the Titanic's hull was 824,131.

A strange story was told of a dog that jumped from the deck of the ship as it was sinking. Rigel, a
Newfoundland dog, supposedly was the escort of one of the lifeboats. He barked to signal that he was
on the way with one of the lifeboats close behind him.

Strange enough, it was reported that six Chinese men were among the survivors of the Titanic. The men
had been stowaways who, by hiding in the lifboats managed to get onto the ship. The story goes that
they were still in the lifeboats as they were launched into the water. There had originally been eight men
and two of them died, having been crushed to death by heavy passengers in the lifeboats. The
remaining six were able to survive since petite women had been seated above them in the lifeboat. They
were not found until the lifeboats were brought onto Carpathia.

Who comes up with this stuff?
